e wanted academic improvement using tools such as student assessment and distance learning. To improve our business operations, we needed on-line accounting, a better security system, and an improved telecommunications network throughout the district.

The new network is a good investment. Everything runs on one network, so there isn't the expense of multiple networks and multiple support systems. Any way you look at it, the system means long-term savings and district-wide improvements across instructional and administrative areas. So this was an important move for instructional, administrative, and financial reasons.

Securing new funding is often a challenge for school systems. We have reserve funds, but we did not want to deplete our savings. We had already made a commitment to upgrade telecommunications throughout the district. Our application to the Universal Service Fund (USF) -- also called "E -rate" -- gave us the funding we needed to meet our commitment for the infrastructure build-out. That let us redirect other money to accelerate implementation.

E-rate helped us achieve our goals without depleting our reserves. It might help your school district. The solution's right here.
