"If the E-rate funds hadn't come through, we would have done the applications. But we were hoping to take care of those needs and not deplete the system's reserves."
-- Mr. Michael Thomas, Chief Financial Officer, Jackson Public Schools

Jackson Public Schools is committed to making change happen - it was going to happen one way or another. But putting new applications on an older, less robust network was a less than optimal solution. Universal Service Funds (E-rate) closed most of the gap for Jackson Public Schools. USF money doesn't pay for everything, but it will pay for internal connections, hubs, routers, file server software, the ATM system, some phone services, Internet access, and other components.*
"E-rate was timely. It would have taken us years longer. It allows us to get where we want to be more quickly. It will speed things up and make the system more complete."
-- Mr. Ron Sellers, Deputy Superintendent, Jackson Public Schools
